Position Overview:

We are a long-standing (150+ Years) full-service law firm seeking a Litigation Associate with experience in defending Child Victims Act (CVA) cases to join our team! We are searching for an Associate with 1+ year of experience defending Child Victims Act cases. We are a team of over 180 attorneys with offices in 7 different major cities. We have been serving our clients while providing cost-effective solutions with almost 2 centuries of experience. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex litigation matters related to child sexual abuse claims, specifically under the Child Victims Act in New York or New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact while defending cases in a growing practice area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in complex litigation involving Child Victims Act cases, including pre-suit negotiations, discovery, motions, and trials.
  • Defend clients against allegations of child sexual abuse, with a focus on CVA cases.
  • Handle all stages of litigation, including research, legal writing, case management, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies, collaborating closely with senior attorneys and clients.
  • Prepare legal briefs, motions, and other necessary documents for hearings and trials.
  • Manage case load efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate updates to clients and senior attorneys.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings when appropriate.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of state laws, regulations, and legal precedents, particularly those pertaining to the Child Victims Act.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience as a litigation attorney, with a focus on defending Child Victims Act cases.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and defending cases involving child sexual abuse claims.
  • Strong background in New York and/or New Jersey civil procedure, specifically related to CVA.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, experts, and team members.
  • Member of the New York or New Jersey State Bar.
  • Experience with complex litigation matters and handling high-profile cases preferred.
